Let's Try This Again

Two years ago I joined HOK unsure of my choice in career but certain that I wanted to start writing again. After this last year--in which I taught, took a ridiculously intensive Latin course, took and passed (!) my orals, and moved across the country--I am officially taking a break from grad school.

[Update: About that last thing I said--turns out I won't, because it wasn't the right choice. I will be pressing forward. More on that later.]

So here I am, and I want to start writing again. But after Gwynne's post, I see that I need to be more specific, so here's what I'm planning to do:

• Write every day (except Sunday)
• Read two books of fiction--written within the last 50 years (!)--every month.
• Finish--yes, FINISH--the first draft I've been writing for the last two years by February 1.

There it is.

And here I go.
